Wizz Air trials charges for large cabin bags
Thursday 12th July 2012
Low cost airline Wizz Air is to trial charging for large cabin bags on its route between Luton and Katowice from August 1st.
The airline claims that the move is to enhance on-time performance and improve the experience for their customers. Passengers will be charged 10 euros per piece of luggage, that is bigger than 42cm x 32cm x 25cm but no larger than 50cm x 40cm x 20cm. In return, they will be given priority boarding so that they have time to stow their items in the overhead lockers. Smaller items such as handbags and laptops and items purchased at the airport will still be free of charge. The airline believes that the new fee will encourage people to bring only one small bag instead.
If successful, the trial will be rolled out through the whole Wizz Air network.
